Northwood’s Investment team recently completed the acquisition of Reading’s tallest office tower, The Blade, a modern Grade A, multi-let building in the town centre.

Capped by a curving spire style roof, the property is designed by Shepherd Robson and retains its standing as an iconised feature of Reading’s skyline nearly a decade on from its development in 2009. Comprising circa 110,000 sq ft across ground and 13 upper levels of open plan office accommodation, the building boasts floor to ceiling glazing and unrivalled views of the Thames Valley.

Furthermore, the asset has been significantly improved by a recent £900m redevelopment of Reading Station, a mere 6-minute walk from The Blade.

Following its acquisition Northwood relocated its central regional office to the property (formerly located in Newbury, Reading) and has subsequently overseen:

  • a comprehensive refurbishment of the entrance lobby area, creating a business lounge featuring a living moss wall and state of the art TopBrewer coffee machine;
  • a six-figure fit-out serving tenant’s office accommodation on the first floor, and;
  • through its affiliated group company Pure Offices, the provision of Grade A serviced office accommodation and high quality break out areas, spanning the buildings third and fourth floors (circa 16,000 sq ft)
